Kolos Cement Ltd organised its Safety Week 2026 from 23 to 28 April, in line with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work observed annually on 28 April. The initiative aimed to reinforce awareness around health, safety and well‑being, while promoting a sustained culture of prevention across the organisation.
Throughout the week, employees participated in a series of activities combining health screenings, preventive actions and well‑being sessions. The programme began with a launch session highlighting the importance of daily vigilance and collective responsibility in maintaining a safe working environment.
Employees were offered vision screening sessions on 24 April, followed by dental check‑ups on 27 April, contributing to the prevention and monitoring of occupational and general health risks. The week concluded on 28 April with a session dedicated to mental and emotional well‑being, featuring meditation, breathing, relaxation and laughter exercises.
According to Rishta Rajiah, Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental (QHSE) & Sustainability Manager at Kolos, Safety Week reflects the company’s long‑term commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. She noted that prevention, early risk detection and balanced lifestyles play a critical role in improving employees’ quality of life while supporting operational safety.
The initiative was positively received by employees, who highlighted the value of regular health check‑ups and increased awareness of lifestyle choices, particularly in an industrial working environment where vigilance is essential.
Beyond the workplace, Kolos also involved employees’ families through a children’s drawing competition themed “Happy Kids in a School Environment”, aimed at promoting values such as kindness, respect, teamwork and well‑being from an early age.
Through Safety Week 2026, Kolos Cement Ltd continues to embed health, safety and well‑being into a continuous, people‑centred approach, reinforcing its role as a responsible employer committed to creating a safer and more sustainable working environment.
