Hilton Mauritius Wraps Up “Travel with Purpose” 2024 with Impact
Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa successfully concluded its 2024 edition of Travel with Purpose week, held from 13 to 19 October. Anchored in Hilton’s global corporate responsibility strategy, the initiative advanced the resort’s environmental and social commitment to sustainable tourism.
The weeklong programme showcased Hilton Mauritius’ alignment with the Hilton Group’s 2030 goals: halving its environmental footprint and doubling investment in local communities. Through staff and guest engagement, the resort promoted responsible hospitality practices while deepening its connection with the local community.
One of the highlights was the launch of a recycling campaign on 14 October, which introduced waste separation bins across several departments. This hands-on initiative encouraged both team members and guests to adopt simple, everyday actions to reduce waste and conserve natural resources.
On 17 October, an interactive gardening workshop was held in the hotel’s Herbs Garden, themed Vin responsab, apran kiltiv ou prop lerb. Led by the hotel gardener, the session empowered participants to grow their own herbs, promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable agriculture while reducing food waste.
The week culminated on 18 October with a green workspace initiative, where employees enhanced their office areas by adding plants. This final act aimed to create a more welcoming and healthier work environment, contributing to air quality and overall well-being.
Each activity during Travel with Purpose week reflected Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa’s ongoing commitment to involving its entire hotel community in the collective journey toward sustainable tourism.
